Let's have noodles for dinner

by - October 13, 2018

Living in the present should go hand in hand with being excited about the future. It's only proper to have an end goal, but at the same time don't forget to enjoy the journey. Enjoy the little things. The company of friends, your current sleeping arrangements, the tasks you're dealing with at the moment.

Here's a second vlog that I filmed last september.

I had a breakdown yesterday morning. I intended on just catching up with my mom on video call, but then I was expressing my fear of how things might turn out for the defense day of my thesis, having me end up tearing up. Having talked to my mom, little brother, and sister, significantly calmed me down.

Another thing keeping me sane is listening to the audiobook "The Now Habit" by Neil Fiore while doing my work.

While listening to the audiobook the author mentioned this prayer, to which I immediately copied and stuck at the top of my work area. I silently pray this before I start my day, and it helps me get through my anxiety and have a clear mind before working. It's somewhat a meditation for me.

Serenity Prayer
-Reinhold Niebuhr

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;

courage to change the things I can;

and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

enjoying one moment at a time;

accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

taking, as He did, this sinful world

as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Amen.

I hope you're doing better than me. Let's get through this rough patch.
